The London Borough of Sutton is in South London on the northern border of Surrey. This stunning building is home to the Sutton Register Office (sometimes known as Sutton Registry Office) and is the setting for many important occasions. Known locally as Russettings, it’s set back from the road in green and leafy surroundings.

Now’s your chance to purchase a little slice of history with this illustrated print. It’s delivered to you in a hard back white envelope, wrapped in a clear cellophane bag, with another hard-board back for extra protection. The print itself is on bright white 200mgs card/paper, and framed by a stylish antique white A4 mount.

Personalised customisation
If you’re buying this as a gift you now have the option to add your own words to the print. It’s a great way to commemorate a special occasion that’s happened recently, or even years ago!

We have two text options. The first, a font with a flourish – a great version to celebrate a marriage or birth. The second, a sans serif font which is great for citizenship occasions or for baby naming.

Fits in standard Ikea frames
This A4 print is shown in a standard 21 x 30cm white Ribba frame available from IKEA.

History

The ornate arts & crafts style Russettings is a large house built in 1899 by architect Frederick Wheeler. Perhaps his best know work is St Paul's Studios on Talgarth Road, London, W14 built in 1890.

Wheeler designed the Sutton Adult School, Benhill Avenue, commissioned in 1909 by Thomas Wall, a local benefactor and CEO of the family's company: ice cream and sausage manufacturer.

Frederick Wheeler also lived in Sutton from 1911 in Cambourne Road and in 1922 designed a new house for his family at Cotlands, 86 Mulgrave Road, Sutton, in a style which for the first time included influences of the Modern Movement. He died here in 1931.
